Hi,

I purchased an Aqua One Aquis 2450 cannister filter in August 2009. In September it leaked flooding my lounge floor. In October it did it again so I returned it to the store( A5 Aquatics) who very reluctantly replaced the lid after everyone in the store had inspected it and stating I needed to contact the manufacturer.

Shortly after this the two taps that flow into the tank split and needed to be replaced and the handles that conect the lid to the filter section broke.

Yesterday the filter flooded again.

I find it hard to believe that a filter that cost £160 could have so many faults with it.

Has anybody had any experience with Aqua One filters?

Thanks.

ive got 2 aquaone externals and never had a problem with either..... maybe its just bad luck or heavy handedness.... ;) i too would be annoyed after paying that amount of cash and got the issues you say  A5 is close to me and they do have some nice healthy fish but always seem very reluctant to accept anything back. they sold me an asian sun catfish when i first started to stock my 90L tank (at the time) and they said 4 inches max i checked it out and it can grow to 1.5 feet+....... on return they didnt like it that they were wrong but i got it changed. ive also been miss sold other fish from there and when returned they would only give half the cash back. they werent expensive fish but when another guy sells the same fish under your nose to another customer for full price within 10 minutes i find it a bit of a disgrace...

anyway back to the canister.... as its less than a year old you should be able to at least get it replaced if not by A5 then by aquaone themselves surely  explain the trouble you have had and demand it after parting with that amount of cash....

good luck.

Yeh I had a Aqua One Aquis 550, Never had any problems with it, If you bought yours fresh from the shop I would get a replacementfree with the Warranty!!

Hi Thanks.

I have arranged to send the filter back for a replacement.

No point in going to A5.

When I first started this hobby they sold me a 130 litre nano tank. I had 2 clownfish, a algae blenny and a yellow head gobby. They then said I could comfortably add a blue tang, dwarf angel and a banded butterfly. Needless to say the whole system crashed within 24hours.

I was very nieve but trusted their advice.

A5 do have some healthy fish but i too trusted them when first setting out and they told me duff advice. i had a lot of fish die and a lot of fish way too big for the tank when fully grown. it was difficult to try and get anything back from them. now im more experienced i just go for what i want and go home, they are an lfs at the end of the day there to make money which they must do as one of the gaffers has a Porsche 4x4 parked outside next to a top spec Rangerover
