Hi all.
My mums neighbour asked me to clean her tank,it hasn't been done since her husband died a while back, anyway, on tackling the filter (the two tubs on the top of the tank). Both tubs had noodles, then a carbon cartridge, carbon sponge and last a polly pad. She gave me some money (I pleaded her not to give me it). I'm going to buy some media for her. Looking on ebay I noticed that's all they sold...The C cartridge and C sponge...do aqua one sell the nitrate pads?
Not media, I meant sponges

If you have a pet shop or fish shop close to you, you should be able to buy sheets of filter pad and cut it down to size to fit in the filter tray. Charcoal can also be purchased individually but its not really necessary in the filter all the time.
In my tanks I often have the standard filter cartridges that come with the filter and add an extra piece of filter pad that I cut to size, I often get the types meant for marine tanks, as this is generally firmer and thicker and lasts along time even with frequent rinsing and cleaning while doing drops and tops on my tanks.

I know, the carbon is just to remove any treatment /medication, I'll just get sponge and cut it to size, thank you and have a nice xmas.

I have the AR650T which has a similar filter. Once I stopped replacing the filter pads (as recommended by the $upplier$) and replaced with just a plain old piece of filter floss I stopped having min-cycles (not knowing about the nitrogen cycle at the time I thought I was doing the right thing).

My filter has two compartments. Both have ceramic noodles, a black coarse filter pad on top of them, and white floss on top. It's working like a charm.

Thank you, I'll just remove the carbon cartridge's when I clean it next.
