When I bought him the previous owner had him in a 30 Gal. With 1 x 30 Gal Filter.
In the short term I added a 30 Gal Filter.
Shortly after Bumped his tank up to a 70 Gal with 2 x 70.
The current was able to move rocks on the ground (the water clearance between the filter and the water surface is slightly over 2 inches ... ) (mind you it was very direct current it wasn't really causing a moving current)
Sometimes he would swim into the current but when he does laps etc he would always seems a little irritated when going through it would start trying to turn around in it awkwardly (even though he could just of continued)
If the current was bothering him we where looking at almost a foot of distance taken off the tank of swimmable space.
Thought he could do with the room.
The effect of the plants from the top laying in the water is pretty nice.
He actually seems out all the time now which is kinda annoying as he use to hide when I tested his tank and he seemed content doing so ... Now he just stares and swims back and forth and interfers with what I am doing HA HA
