Yeah that sounds good. make sure you cycle the tank and everything first. To speed it up you can just take some of the media from the old filter and add it to the new filter so its fully cycled.

Yeah i gotcha mate, got a small filter i think i'll get running in my community tank, build up some bacteria so it saves the cycle in new tank like you said
