ive got a pair of Apistogramma agassizii the males 2 inches and the females 1 inch
the male spreads out all his fins when hes infront of the female and some times she dose it back and the both sort of shake but then other times she dosent do it and the male attacks her some times some of the bits look quite narsty is it normale for him to do that

yh theyre both displaying to each other when they do that, expressing an interest in each other

the male just gets a little pissy wen he dont get his own way, its fine if youve got plenty of caves and plant cover for the female to use as an escape route lol,
you tend to find the female gets a little harrased by some males if shes the only one in the tank to occupy him

dont worry though its natural behaviour

now they have both got alot brighter and both have bright yellow bellys but now the female seens to desplay to him fist then he dose it and then she attacks him has she just got anoyyed with him
that and they both bearly ate this morning they just letf the food and the female kept chasing him

i dont think so the female is really skinny so i dont think she could have eggs inside her

They could be in the process of spawning, just showing themselves to each other. Sounds like they paired up to me.

hope they have
and im going to get some bloodworn tomorrow is the dried stuff any good coz my mum wont let me but the frozzen stuff in the frezzer and the live once only last a couple of days

Yeah, but they float. SO soak them in a glass of water until they become waterlogged and sink. Then por the water over a net, and then empty the net into the tank, and there you have it. :good:

Sounds like they are checking each other out

some of the bites are looking quite narsty now and shes taken a couple of chunks out of his tails is it normal

Yes, it's normal for cichlids to fight.

When was the last time you observed them displaying to each other? How frequently do they do it if they still do? Might have to consider separating them soon.

if you have plenty of caves and plants then they should get away from eachother well enough by using the cover available

also it may be that theyre in too confined a space and have only got each other to occupy thier time, it might be worth adding some dither fish such as tetras to distract their attention and spread the aggresion
