ill put the barbs into the roma 200 tonight. i only put the barbs in that small tank due to the LFS telling me they would help the cycling process come along without really causing too much stress on the fish. might be worth me doing a fishless cycle in the kitchen tank. I will be looking for a bigger tank once i have this roma setup properly. i have a cove in the living room which is just over 5ft wide by almost 2ft deep if i get my way ill have a big aquarium in there in the next few months lol.

50% water change only reduces the temperature by 3-4 degrees. Im goin to test again soon to see what difference the 50% change has done.

3-4 degrees F is not to much of a problem but 3-4 degrees C will almost certainly shock your fish.

I tempreture match by running a length of food standard hose from my electric shower to my tank, my shower is upstairs & my tank downstairs so you need to have an understanding family for this to work.

Dont stress about the pH, its not worth it.

I'll buy a thermometer tomorrow for my 25litre tubs to make sure the water is the correct temperature I will also test the tank again in the morning.

I initially had a thermometer for temperature matching my buckets until I smashed it so...

The best way... get two tubs siphon the water out as you would normally then when you go to refill it leave one tub with the 'dirty' tank water next to your sink so you can simply plonk your hand in and match by hand. It doesn't have to be perfect all you are aiming for is not to have a sudden drop in temperature by 3/4+ degrees or cause your fish to cook.

Quick word of warning, read your dechlorinator carefully, some issue a warning about concentration and temperature.
