could you tell me where you all get suck beautiful Bettas!? the shops near me keep them in tiny little tubs, i have a female from one shes blue and just getting better from such treatment, but i refuse to fund their discusting treatment.

Every shop around me keeps male bettas in little boxes and females together in a tank. And there are around about 5 near me and all do the same.

A lot of us buy our bettas from online sellers on a facebook page. They cost more but are far better looking!
However, if you did get a male you wouldn't be able to keep him with a female as they'd probably kill each other. :)

hehe I know, I have a nice little biorb ive been keeping some fry in and its a shame now its all cycled and looking nice to just put it in the garage, the fry got sold so it will make a lovely home for a male Betta, my female is in my community tank, she thinks shes a molly :p she stays with them constantly! and its discusting how they get treat :( ill try and look facebook :)

Oh good, haa, just wanted to make sure you knew! Wouldn't want any casualties!
Let me just find you a link to one I use, I know lilfishie has a link to that page so I'll try and find that! :D

I have a couple of good independent Lfs where their Bettas are kept in large tanks.
Was in one the other day & very tempted as I saw 2 gorgeous dumbo eared ones.
Still wondering if I can justify another tank to house one

Lol I know, & if they haven't gone by Monday, one will be coming home with me

I got my male betta, Oscar, from Pets at Home - They don't keep them in tiny tubs, they have them in split up tanks that they can actually move around in... :good:

Where I am, its either Pets at Home (if you are lucky), online or a fancy pet shop in the center of London.

Don't see why Tom, that comment was a positive one.

Most of those unimpressive bettas in the tiny bowls are actually rather nice fish once you get them home. It is hard to tell though while they are confined to less than 1/4 litre of water at room temperature.

This guy hangs out in a 45 gallon tank with a breeding colony of endlers. He looked like nothing at all when I brought him home but I thought I saw potential in him in his tiny cup of water.
