Can anyone tell me what kind of fish this is. I was told a loach but not sure if it is or what kind it is?

Yes, a picture would be most useful in trying to identify which species of fish you have. Pretty difficult otherwise........

 
If you are having trouble loading pictures, you can use sites such as PhotoBucket or Flicker for uploading your pics and then using the URL code when posting pics on the forum.
