Anyone Know Anything About Congo Tetras?

I saw some beautiful Congo Tetras but would they get on with my Platy?

im sure they would get on fine with a platy, but from the other posts of yours that ive seen you have a 60 litre set up - and congo tetra get quite large (about 3 inches or so) so probably wouldnt be suitable in smaller tanks.

im in the process of setting up a nano tank half the size of yours, and theres actually a really good choice of smaller fish - take a look at some of the micro rasbora. i saw some chilli rasbora and green rasbora in the lfs today - they look great - really pretty fish and make a nice tight shoal, if thats the kind of thing that youre after.

Yeah, as above they reach a decent size so need a decent size tank. They are amazing fish though with their long flowing fins and iridescent colours, very active too. Nicest of the tetra's IMO. I have 5 in my 200L pretty much fully grown.

I also have five in my 200ltr tank, it actually took me by surprise at how fast and how big they grow, but they are extremely peaceful towards all my other fish including my platy's

I have 6 (3 male, 3 female) in a 260L tank and the beat the living daylights out of my tiger barbs. Mind you, this is the biggest most sissy bunch of tigerbarbs i have ever seen and they got picked on by tetras

I would say though...

-tightly shoaling
-get big
-no smaller than 200L for 4-6 of them (wouldnt have less than 6 so base other fish round THEM)
-they CAN be nippy, the males in particular get to be pretty nippy when it becomes *their* tank and if that means battering tiger barbs twice their size... they will do...
-possibly THE most stunning tetra there is and look fantastic in planted tanks!
-use up middle level of tank
