Guilty as charged three times over!
The biggest criteria for these guys is current, they love it (although some specimens were found in still water back in the "low noughties"), something like 6x or 7x (minimum) water volume of actual flow (many filter's marketing overhypes specs, not taking account of the slowdown from inserting media and the fact that we do not change media and sponges everyday).
Panda Garras are very adaptable towards temperature, as the streams they are found in within Manymar can get rather warm in the summer days, but significantly cooler at night. As a rough guide, you could house them in water anything from 18-26C quite happily.
They are very passive towards over tankmates, but they are a little territorial with their own. This is why I bought three, so the "aggression" (which is quite mild compared to other fish but it can really stress them out, with all those lovely panda marking bleaching out to almost nothing) is spread. In hindsight, I wish I had maybe bought five or six, as they do sometimes be social with each other and it would further spread any territorial aggression. I'd say a single speciemn for 60-90cm tanks, three or four for 120cm and five plus in a 150cm+ setup. Just be wary of whatever else is going to co-habitate with them on the tank floor, as my Lionhead Cichlids for example loved chasing the Garras away from any opportunistic sneaks into their area for food!
Garra flavatra will munch on some algae, but not to the extent of Otos, as they are omnivores (mine love Prima Discus and defrosted food like artemia and bloodworm).
My three were quite interactive with me during their early days, acting as monitors during water changes, when they loved to play in the current formed by me tipping water back into the tank!
A great alternative to a plec catfish, especially in smaller tanks, as they guys only reach ~7cm SL.
