this goes to all the people who have been keeping freshwater all there lives do you ever get bored of your FW tanks and start dreaming of SW tanks i know there costly and that deters some people but still marines beutiful so ill start i poll here which do you like better marine or freshwaters and lets pretend you could afford both types. post and defend what you like.

o well we still need to find out plus i asked if anyones bored of freshwaters to unless thats what you meant.

I posted about this thing. I don't think I would ever get bored with FW. There are so many different things you can do, so many different environments you can try to recreate and all the different sizes you can have.

What I am bored with is SW. And they are so much more frustrating to deal with. FW fish can be just as colorful and you can get just as much of a veriety and fit more in a FW tank. The SW tank is my hubby's so I can't do this but if I had my way, I would give all the fish and corals to the LFS and turn the tank into a FW tank in a heartbeat. Plus I like plants more than rocks and corals.

yea i agree although you cant beat coral sure wish that was freshwater.

I agree corals are gorgeous but a lot of them are difficult to care for and there are a lot of things to consider with them. Lighting levels, water flow, planktonic food. Plus the way you situate in the tank has to be considered because they will attack each other if they are too close together.

wow 0 votesfor salty wonder what happed if this was a reef forum.

I've always wanted to do a marine tank, I tried it once but it got very expensive so got rid. Since then all my wants for a second tank have been fresh water - but I would quite like a marine tank at some point.

How many people that voted actually keep both? that is what I want to know! I do and I like them both but if I could only have one tank then it would be a marine purely because there is so much to see at anyone time and constant surprises cropping up plus the colour and variation, but yes I agree the cost and maintenance are a drag not quite as easy as a tropical tank!

yea i agree a saltwater tank is full of action if only in a perfect world they would be as most cost as a freshwater tank

I've been a freshy all my life and really have as near to zero interest in marines as it's possible to have.

I looked after a friend's marine set up for a few months while he was splitting up with his missus and loathed it. Too much hassle mixing the water and I hate the look of coraline algae; marine tanks nearly always just look dirty to me!

Plus I don't really like the look of most marine fish; what gets me about tropical fish is those metallic colours, like on a neon tetra, and most marines are more matt.

I did consider doing a marine nano recently, but only 'cos my son was keen; when he started losing interest, I shelved the idea ;)

The only marine I would seriously consider would be a fish only set up for a Picasso trigger; I met one in a shop years ago and fell in love with him!

really i thought the only good thing about the marines was their color but its everybodys opinion eh
