hi i am moving my 2 chinese algae eaters from my small to my big tank, what i want to know is there a way to catch them without moving everything from the tank?
i was thinking maybe sticking the net in with a bit of cucumber inside and waiting for them to swim in!?
do you think this will work? as i dont want to move everything as i have it just the way i want it

get a friend to help you with a couple of nets each, i have had to empty a tank to catch a siamese algae eater and one jumped out of the tank and over the back behind the tank and cabinet to escape the net. di

I had to chase down my cae as well to transfer them to a larger tank...

I drained down the tank til it was a couple inches. Then I piled all the stuff onto one side (honestly it might be impossible to catch them if you don't want to move anything. ). Then I got my boyfriend to scare them onto one side of the tank (just waved the net back and forth so they wouldn't swim to the other side). This cornered them and I eventually got it... actually they both swam into the net at once, I was pretty lucky.

Try to let them latch onto a wall and sneak up behind with the net then quickly put it flush against the glass. This is the easiest way to get them. :good:
