Hey guys.
So i have a new tank which is 35 gallons, and its more long than tall.
I need some ideas on which plants and fish that would look good in there.
But I want to have it sort of amazonian. So thats fish like angelfish, most tetras etc..

Any ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.
Cheers.

What dimensions are the tank? You mention it isnt very tall, well if thats the case cross angels off your list. They require tall tanks rather than long unfortunately.

I would do a tank of South American Puffers if I had a 3 foot tank :). Mix them with fast fish and armoured catfish and they are a brilliant fish you could get 4 of them plus the tank mates. Feed them lots and lots of snails and your onto a winner :)

15" in height..............

I think 15" is the min. height but someone may correct me on that.

You could have;

* A pair of angels
* Dwarf cichlids - bottom dwellers (1 male, 2 females)
* Cories - Bronze or gold/green striped (8)

That's keeping to a south American theme :good:

Sounds great to me. Thanks for that. I will add to my cory collection and grab a pair of golden rams this weekend. I already have the angels :)
Cheers for that.

How about german blue rams? Although, I think rams have more of an attitude, than their apistogramma cousins.

2 females to 1 male would be better. Have some hiding places, they like to get into coverage, you could use a garden pot (terracotta), turn it upside down and put a small hole in the top, or coconut huts, or make caves out of slate. It's fun to get creative with it all :good: :lol:

The slate could come in use for the angels too, if you manage to get a pair.

You would be best off with bolivian rams or apistos rather than gold/blue/german/dutch as these all need high temperatures and low ph otherwise they die quite quickly. Its better to plan a tank around the gold/blue etc rams rather than add them to an existing community - where as with most apistos and bolivian rams they are more adaptable and would be able to be kept with the angels etc

15" in height..............

is the minimum height of the water column, so if the tank is only 15" tall then it's unlikey to have the same height of water when substrate and any tank bases/lids are taken into account.
