It was sold to me as a chocolate zebra plec but i really dont think it is

I know I've seen it and the name is just right on the tip of my tongue but I can't recall it. Try looking through the L-Numbers on Planet Catfish and you might be able to find it.

seen one a bit like it in a book called a candy striped pleco but not sure to be honest

The L316 is what I was trying to think of. I think it looks closer than the L129 or 307.

bit of bad news, the pleco died in the early hours of the morning. Only have him a few weeks and no idea what happened. My water levels are all what the test kit says they should be and my water temp is about 25-26 degrees. No marks on him either from other fish. The only thing i can think of is the treatment from white spot mite have caused it. Anybody any other ideas?

esha exit whitespot treatment, i also turned the temp up to 27 degrees for a few days but that was a week ago, one other thing i did notice though was that he never came out of his cave even when lights were out and i never seen him feeding either. Is it possible this fish was sick from the start?

More than likely it died from stress from already being handled/moved so much (wherever it was caught to the supplier to the seller then to you) on top of the white spot so there wasn't much you can do. It's an unfortunate thing that sometimes happens.
