Another One Of Those Days!

last night noticed that the nutrfin co2 was working but the bubbles were very slow ( after about 2 hrs) so thought " oh ill give it a little shake"- then the mix starts racing thru the tubes, so i disonnected it and placed the tubing in a vase that sits on the fireplace next to the tank-floor level,
got up at 5,30 this morning, looked at the fish and thought WHATTT,and have been hoovering up approx 100L of water since!!!! how come these things happen over night?
i didnt realise you could get a back flow of the fliippin things, the last time this happend was when i left an airpump dangling,so to speak

i reckon if i had a lay in this morning i would be looking at my poor angles struggling for room to swim as the ladder was low in the tank,and could have easily drained another 50 odd litres..

the day can only get better

I thought anything where the exit was below the water level, and the pipe was free of trapped air would cause a siphon? Hope all the fish and your floor are ok!

well it stands to reason dosent it just me being thick.. again
im sure that horrible pink carpet will have to be ripped up as its really thick and will probably stink in a few days... such a shame
i was so fed up as i was itchy from the sun, tired, and the bubbles wouldnt move fast enough i didnt even think.. pretty typical of me

Oh Dear - Feel For you. Had that experience with my 1st sump. Drained a 1/4 of the tank.

Well, you could look at the bright side. It was only 5:30 and you had already washed the floor......granted it was carpetted but even so its a good job done.

Seriously - Take advantage of the good weather. Tread as much of the water out as possible by laying towels ontop of kitchen paper on the carpet and then walking over it. Open as many windows as possible to get air through the house and evaporate as much damp as quickly as possible. If you can, lift the carpet up so the air can get to the underlay too.

..Think I'll have a concrete floor in my house. Its gotta happen sooner or later.

and its not getting any better ( the day that is) took my car for the 3rd time to have my stereo fitted- 1st time it didnt wire it properly, 2nd time he interfered with the immobiliser, now just picked it up and he hasnt wired the rear speakers
also found out that the silly man (thats not what im really calling him) that fitted the new tyres has put the wrong size on the front, so its rubbing when i turn........

At least you've got your 3 out of the way and you can enjoy the rest of the day without fear of anything else going wrong! (touch's head in lue of absense of any real wood!)
