Another 3D Background Project

Looking good so far, I'm enjoying seeing this step by step

Looks great! The final product should be no less than amazing. :D

Very cool!  I would never have enough patience to do something like this but the end result is so amazing!

So I have the whole thing painted, colors added. I forgot to take a picture, but I'll post it later. Now my problem is I have nowhere to spray the Plastidip. It's below freezing here and will be probably until the middle of March. After looking at the ingredients list, I'm not about to do it in the basement and gas us all to death. So it's a waiting game for the temp to get up above freezing or for me to break down and attempt to just spray it outdoors in the driveway. I've found plenty of blogs where people have Plasti dipp-ed their cars in freezing weather, and they just do a bunch of light coats and it works out fine, so maybe I'll give it a whirl. I just want to get this tank up and running already! Geez!

It is looking very nice! I cannot wait to see the finished setup.

FINALLY got the background siliconed in place. It took me forever to get around to the coating of Plasti Dip. It was just too cold to do it outside. I did 4 light coats of clear Plasti Dip, letting it dry for an hour in between each one. It produced a really nice rubbery coating that kept the original texture and color very nicely. I think 1-2 more days of curing for the silicone, and I'll be able to fill the tank. Not the best pictures, but the lighting in this corner is horrible, and the tank bulb is dead and needs to be replaced. I'll have to say that next time I do this, I will do fewer little crevices and openings because it was very very tedious cleaning the excess silicone from those little areas. I have small hands and fingers, but reaching down inside this tank from on top of a stool scraping these tiny areas was not that much fun.

I don't have a better picture yet because I'm not quite happy with the plant-scaping. I didn't like the way the moneywort looked all separated out, so it's kind of in bunches now. I've added a large amazon sword, some hornwort, some java fern and anubias, and a brown crypt. And still only 3 fish, but I'm getting more this weekend and going to rescape the whole thing. I'll have a better picture after that. This pic was taken just as I finished filling it, hence all the little bubbles.
