Annoyed At Having An Alkaline Ph

But high PH can also be a blessing in disguise! Perfect for african cichlids and marine!

Nmonks wrote a PFK article on it this month.

Look- You're gonna have to make a choice, acid water or alkaline water and the fish that come with those types of waters. You cant mess with nature otherwise nature will mess with you (a tank full of dead fish) if you are going to have your tank at an alkaline level, buy alkaline fish, simple as that. Granted, some fish are hardy and you can get away with a odd pH. You have to make decisions all throughout life, and fishkeeping.

That told me eh! Considering my thread was about not wishing to just 'make do' and throw any old fish into my tank, rather getting the right ones to suit the water conditions, it seems a little harsh to be giving me a lecture on the subject!

I don't think he meant it to come across like that ;) (even though it might have a bit).

But I think you could create an awesome tank with Rainbowfish, loaches and plecs in that tank  And they would do really well  Obviously very generalised, but your pH is really not that bad - and very similar to what many of us have to deal with. If you purchase your fish locally, they would no doubt have been kept in very similar water - or if you go a bit further afield, just acclimatise them well :)

Chill winston! He's only asking so he can make the right choice of fish, and people on here have given him some good ideas of fish that will suit and he seems to like those ideas, so all is good.

Sam

EDIT - just out of interest what tanks/fish have you got at the moment Captain Retardo, you may have some species he/we haven't thought of?

Did that sound harsh? I just read what i wrote, maybe. Well sorry then!

Themuleous-I will be getting a 30 gallon tank soon and I have already planned it out:

6 Kuhli Loaches
6 Corydoras Trilineatus
2 Cherry Barbs
2 Bolivian Rams
and still not sure about getting 4-5 Barbus Pentazona

Maybe I mistook your thread, I didnt mean to sound harsh. :D
