Are there any downsides/negatives to having fully cleaned animal bones in the aquarium? Reason I ask is because 2 years ago i found a full deer skull (minus the lower jaw) and its in perfect shape (antlers and all) its relatively small and thought it would make an interesting addition to a tank that couldn't be planted due to the fish or inverts in it, so i was wondering if it would be fine for this tank. Sounds kinda weird, but i think it would look pretty neat with black sand, led's and a pitch white/or blue crayfish crawling around like a bad ***

Opinions welcome!

Doesn't sound like a good idea, aside from agreeing visually it would be pretty neato and unique. I'm no expert in bones, but I believe they're pretty high in calcium and sodium among other minerals, and god knows what else that could leech into the tank water which can't really be cleaned off without having no bone left

Would a soak in bleach and then dechlorinator kinda clean anything off? or are you talking like it actually kinda dissolving a little bit? idk...

I would contact a museum or something like that to find out. I think it would be an awesome setup.

My Grandmother actually loved her tropical fish tank had it for years. She was a querky woman and had a very unusual but amazing set up. She used to but bomes in her tank. she would leave it out side for the ants to eat of any minute bit of debre left on the bone. She would leave it out there for a week then soak it in boiling water and then Put it in her tank and she never had any issues.

If you are able to go ahead with it and you do that is a setup i would like to see pics of, sounds very unusual and def not 1 you see everyday. Good luck with it.
