My tank is 46 gallons. It's home to a yoyo loach school, serpae tetra school, and DipShiz, my Angelfish.
Dip has been on her (don't actually know gender, but have always referred to her as a her) own as a solitary angel in my tank for close to two years. My friend's tank broke last night, and he needed to rehome his angelfish asap as his spare tank wasn't tall enough to house the angel.
I acclimated his angel to my tank over the course of an hour and a half, allowing Dipshiz to watch through the bag. The second I released the angel into the tank, Dipshiz was on her like a fly on well.. you know the expression. Dipshiz was mirroring her movements, and this continued for about 10 minutes until suddenly, Dipshiz starts picking at the new angel's side.
I've placed DipShiz in a "net breeder" that I used to use for mollies for the time being, but its not a permanent solution. I assumed that the new angel was just stressed out and therefore DipShiz picked up on this and was asserting her dominance in the tank. By sectioning off DipShiz, I figured I'd allow the new angel a chance to destress and settle into the new environment before releasing dipshiz.
Is it possible for unpaired angels to coexist?.
Is this bickering normal?
If the angelfish cannot get along, how long could I hold the Angel in a 10 gallon QT tank without causing damage to growth? SHe's about 2.5" in diameter (body only, not including fins.)
Thanks.
