That's a gorgeous pair! Angels are typically not great parents (but they can be!) and "breeders' will pull the eggs and hatch them without the parents intervention.

That’s probably why they aren’t great parents to be fair , apparently fish learn maternal and paternal instincts as fry from there own parents
 
Size is not the governing factor, age is. Typically they take about a year but I have seen some spawn at seven months and some take up to 18 months to get into the mood. Then there sre some that never spawn.
