Hi there, I am new to this forum and I wanted to share with you some fantastic news, I have a breeding pair of angels and after about 10 attempts with laying eggs they have managed to raise maybe 100 little fry. When I first saw this batch of eggs I thought they would go the same way as the rest of them in that they would be eaten by the adult angels. To my suprise when I looked at what I originally thought were eggs with mould on them they turned out to be little tails. I was a bit worried about the parents eating them and when I came down Thurs morning and saw not a single egg my worst fears looked like coming true, however, when I got home and looked in to the tank there they were, fry free swimming with the mum and dad behind a plant. I did have 4 small neons and up until this morning they appeared not to be causing any problems but, this evening I have had to rescue 3 of them from being killed by the angels, they hounded them all evening until they were so stressed you can't imagine. The most amazing thing that has come out of all this is that I haven't done any thing to my tank, no special filter, no special conditions, nothing!!! the only thing I have got is some starter food from the pet shop. The adults are the most amazing parents ever, scooping them up in to their mouths when they stray and spitting them out in to a safe area. Truly fantastic and I am so proud that my angels have managed to get this far without any intervention from me.

I am very happy and pround of my angels.

Hi, I am need of a bit of advice!

Now that my angel babies are all free swimming and feeding (I hope) what is the likelyhood that the parents will eat them all? I'm sure as I sit here looking at them that there aren't as many as there were yesterday. If I have to seperate them off I will need to get a new tank pronto.

Thanks

Bad news, nearly all my babies have gone!! Ive managed to rescue the last 8 and put them in a little breeder trap so the parents can't get them and eat them. Looks like they are getting ready to try again as they have been cleaning the filter pump and seem to have lost all interest in their offspring.

Oh well better luck next time...
