Ammonia In Tap Water

Thank you waterdrop,
I think I'm settling on the Eheim classic either the 2215 ( up to 92gal flow of 164gph) which i think might be a bit much for my 30 gal or the 2213 (up to 66gal flow of 116).
both are easily in my price range and utilize both sponge and bio media :D.

ordered Eheim Classic External Canister Filter 2215 and Hydor ETH 200 In-Line Heater 200 Watt - 1/2 inch
Should be a good choice I'm hoping.

noticed a strange whitish film covering the rubber parts of my heater today, just those parts nothing else ... gonna poke around the forums and see what it might be..
I'm thinking its some sort of a bacteria outbreak due to the less than optimal water conditions,
hope it isn't something seriously toxic.. fish seem happy and begging for food so assuming they are ok..

That white film is some sort of algae or bacterial bloom that, for some reason, only grows on things like new heater suckers. It's very, very common in new tanks and it's harmless, even though no-one is quite sure what it is!

thank you for the heads up.. its quite ugly really... glad to know its harmless.
here is a video of the stock I'm doing 1x-2x water changes a day to keep healthy , never again, next time I do the fishless or clone .
The youngsters have however grown allot since i got them.. were less than 1/2 inch now i bet 1" or more.
The back is drooping since i had just done a 75% less than an hr before and hadn't put everything back up yet
