Amano Shrimp

Thats a very intresting question so can they be kept outside.

Do you mean like a pond?

Only advisable in frost free climates they can supposedly survive down to 0C though not for long periods. If you buy them now and put them in you should be fine for the rest of the year....

Don't ponds have hair algae grow in them?

Good idea I was thinking of getting/saving some hawain red shrimp they are extremely hardy like super shrimp and they are the shrimp found in the self contained ecospheres, they actually starve and get poisoned in those though but easy to get a hold of. Live for 20 years aswell and quite attractive imo so all is good :good:

Depends on the species Miah some do some don't they are omnivores normally

Do shrimps eat hair algae?
sorry Miah002' dont know much about shrimp thats why im asking these qs lol

so do these shrimp breed in cold water and can you keep them in tropic tanks :good:

Both Amano's and Hawaiin red shrimp need brackish water for larval development (amano's are notoriously hard to breed as it can be too high a salinity or to low and there is a low survival rate). Tropical is withstood by both and cold water the general concensus with shrimp is that there metabolism is directly linked to water temp so higher temps mean they die quicker. I keep my amano's at 24-28C
