wrong continent comocrayfish5, http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/forum/28-new-world-cichlids/ is the right forum for angels, just make a post in that one with your question.

Well, you are now, but looking at "* 8 fish tanks [gallons]... one 20, three 10, a 5, two 1.5, and a 1" in your signature, You don't have any fish tanks big enough for an angelfish. They need 2 feet of height and I'd say at least 30 inches for length. so 37 gallon tall is the smallest you can go.

Cutting to the chase aside, what questions do you have?

well my question is how do you hatch brine shrimp and when do you hatch them when there is fry?
"They need 2 feet of height and I'd say at least 30 inches for length. so 37 gallon tall is the smallest you can go. " - now are you talking about large a.f or small ones?

I'm talking about all fresh water angelfish. They all grow to the same size, 6 inches long, but their fins get much longer, very tall, so short tanks will have them cramped and uncomfortable, sometimes their dorsal fin sticking out of the top.

yes i do realize this but i would like to note that i have a 20g high, not a short 20gal

A bare bottom 20 gallon high, with 16" of water depth, is considered the minimum for a breeding pair. A 29 works better, having 18" of water depth, especially where veils are concerned. I have yet to see any fins sticking out of the top, save for feeding time when breaking the surface is not uncommon. If you go back in time, when tanks had chrome frames & slate bottoms, pairs were often kept & bred in a 10 gallon.

If you're looking at breeding start with a 20h or 29 for the pair, anything from a 2.5 to a 10 for hatching & initial growout, and at least a 55 for final growout, which would include some heavy culling and/or large frequent water changes. I hatch in a 5, move to a 20 for growing, onto a 40 or two for growout, with a couple of 150's for overstock.

For hatching bbs the most basic setup is a cut down 2 liter bottle, a lamp for a heat source, and an air supply. For 1.5l of water I add two tablepoons of salt, about a half teaspoon of baking soda, and a couple drops of bleach, hatching up to 1 tsp of bbs at at time every 24 hours at 80F.

Baking soda increases hardness & pH. Bleach helps soften the shells, and keeps bacteria at bay, gasses off in under 24 hours.
