i would switch back to the 800lph turnover, i run my tanks at around 10x tank turnover, the current is just fine, you can always use a spraybar to dissipate it if your fish don't like it but most fish quite enjoy it.

Does this work? i am constantly changing my water to battle with my bogwood and - although more water changes are better than less - i would be interested if some media in my filter could help me out!

That massive bit of wood you can see had loads of boiling water poured over it and then soaked for 2 days. When I put it in the tank the tanins leached out and turned the water the colour of tea in under 12 hours. I put a bag of carbon in the filter which did nothing. Then I put 250ml of purigen in tights material in the back and as you can see my water is crystal. I also performed a massive water change about this time as it was the end of my fishless cycle but I'm certain that if I take the purigen out the tanins will start to stain the water again.

yeah i got two bits of wood, both were soaked for days before they got in the tank. One is about 10-12 months old now and i think that its fine. The other is probs 2-3 months old and still leaks tannins like crazy...

Mrs Fish (one of my Rams) has started very ernest spring cleaning of the slate house. She got most frustrated with a bit of Java Moss that was on it and threw it across the tank. She's also started chasing away the other fish in the tank and she's put on a bit of weight lately...

She's looking a lovely colour and has started chasing Mr Fish around and displaying to him; before it was always him chasing her and her running off. I wonder if they'll spawn soon...?
