Hi all- Well I recently have just taken up the hobby of fish-keeping. Now I didnt do much research before buying my first fish so I went into my LFS and asked some questions. They said I could just get a tank (with all the stuff) and some fish and Id be fine. So I ended up purchasing a 10 gallon top-fin tank with everything included, a test kit, and two beautiful fire red dwarf gouramis. The other day I found this website and saw the fishless cycling article and was very confused. Because here were my stats the first 5 days:
Day 1:
pH: 7.5
Ammonia: .15 ppm
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
Day 2:
pH: 7.5
Ammonia: .15 ppm
Nitrite and Nitrate: 0
Day 3:
pH: 7.5
Ammonia .10
Nitrite and Nitrate 0
Day 4:
Didnt test
Day 5 (today):
pH: 7.5
Ammonia: .05
Nitrite and Nitrate: 0
Now I was expecting a huge ammount of Ammonia and Nitrites, but is it normal for them to be this low when cycling with fish?
Thanks for the help,
Steve
