Hello all, well the cycling journey has come to an end and I am now officially a Fish Keeper . I have all the tanks stocked, just waiting a couple of weeks before I add the Skunk Cories, and the Olive Nerite Snails I still have to locate. The 55 gallon is doing great so far. All the fish are in, the Cherry Barbs did great with the transfer from the 12 to the 55 gallon, in fact, I never saw them school quite as tightly in the 12 gallon as they are in the 55 gallon, well except for 2 of the Red Zebra Glo fish seem to have infiltrated the Cherries' school. The Zebra Danio seem to be having a grand old time chasing each other around the tank. The 2 Pearl Gourmais seem to have settled down, they were a little skittish at first, especially when the Zebras went zooming by, but now they don't seem bothered by them. However, they are sticking very close together . The 12 gallon is doing OK, I left the mystery snail in there and added the Harlequin Rasboras and they seem to be doing good (a much better choice for my 12 gallon not nearly as active as those crazy barbs  ). All except 1 Harlequin took the transfer well, I have one with clamped fins (already posted in emergency). I didn't notice it in the store, or even when I first got home, I didn't notice it until about 10 minutes after I released them into the tank (after acclimating of course), I am really hoping it is just transport stress, I put some stresszyme in and turned the lights out, hopefully that will do the trick :dunno:. Other than that one, the Harlequins seem to have settled in nicely. My Betta on the other hand is still sulking! I have posted in the Betta section and this is apparently normal Betta behaviour, it is amazing how each species has such different personalities. Anyway, I was told to expect the sulking to last about 2 weeks. He has come out of his cave occasionally, mostly at night, but quickly goes back in if I get to close to the tank, I have to sneak up on him just to look at him . But from what I can tell he appears to be doing fine.

So here is the final stock list that I went with, some changes since the beginning but nonetheless this is what I went with:

5 Gallon (101 days of cycling)
1 Betta (VT I believe)
1 Olive Nerite Snail (still need to locate)

12 Gallon (69 Days of cycling)
10 Harlequin Rasboras
1 Golden Mystery Snail (will be moving to a friends tank)
2 Olive Nerite Snails (when located)

55 Gallon (40 days of cycling)
2 Pearl Gourmai
16 Zebra Danio (4 regular, 12 GloFish and the regulars are schooling with the Glos)
12 Cherry Barbs
5 Skunk Cory Cats (will add in about 2 weeks)
5 Olive Nerite Snails (when located)

So those are the tails of my tanks. I also wanted to say a few thank yous to those that really helped me out along the way, drobbyb, for the 55 gallon tank and great advice, Waterdrop, OM47, FHM, and to anyone else I may have forgetten for all their great advice and patience with me. Thank you so much I don't know what I would have done with out you and this forum, everyone here is great. :thanks:

Congrats on getting your tanks all set up. I salute you for actually taking the time to do research before buying also the patience your had to wait that long and cycle your tanks properly. Most new fish keepers just jump in it and once the tank is set up and fish are added and things start going wrong thats when they come here. Myself included when I first started. :good:

PS: Would love to see some pics

Well count me in on that too. The first 35ish days of the 5 gallon were fish in - before I knew about fishless - but he jumped out of the tank (the one tiny little spot I didn't have covered), but then I switched it to fishless cycle. I am planning to get some pics up, just waiting for my camera to be returned from my neighbour (will have it back tomorrow) then it will be picture time

Glad to hear that it is going well for you now. Congrats on the successful cycle and balanced stocking.

Ok here are some pictures of the tanks:

55 Gallon (I got a pic of the Gourmais but the Zebra Danio and the Cherries were too quick to get a clear shot, plus my camera isn't the greatest  , maybe for x-mas I will get a new one)

Your Gouramis(spelling?) look nice, nice spacious tank, wish I had your patience....
Well done :good:

There is backgrounds they just didn't show up in the pics (my camera really sucks) the 55 just has a plain black, the 12 gallon has a bamboo forest background, and the 5 gallon has a Chinese temple. The 5 and 12 gallon ones I made my self, I would have made one for the 55 gallon but it was going to cost a fortune to have it printed so I stuck with store bought.

Edit: I just noticed in the pic you can see the reflection of my kitchen in the 55 gallon tank - but I swear there is no sink in the tank

Lol oh I see I saw the reflection in the 55 and just thought it was on the other side.

Looking good there Rebrn. I like the two tone color on that betta's anal fin. It gives him some character of his own. The decoration in the rest of the pictures is impressive.

Thanks OM. Yeah the Betta tank isn't as decorated as nicely, it is hard to find stuff for a small tank, well stuff that has hiding places for a Betta that is. But I did make the coconut cave myself. My very first attempt at making decor, a coconut cave then I use aquarium safe silicone to glue on the rocks. I actually found a much nicer looking cave at the LFS today, but the Betta absolutely loves his coconut, I hate to replace it now ... well I guess there is no accounting for the fish's sense of style

nice 55, what a great looking tank. it's nice to see all your effort become so rewarding! :good:

Fabs tanks, love the lay out of the 55! :good:

And congrats on taking time and patience of preparing your tanks and stocking :good:

I like the buddha's in the big tank, are they proper aquarium ones or something else - what are they made of?
