All I Can Find Is Gold Fish Starter Kits

Whats even worse with that tank is that it mentions keep multiple goldfish in those aquariums on the box. -_- Even the biggest size of those tanks isn't ideal for goldfish as a permanent home.

I respect your opinion very strongly but bettas in nature are use to these rapid changes; I have been to the paddy fields where the wild ones live and the water is only 1 foot deep with a large surface area so rapid temperature rises occur upto 34C then at night temperatures plummet to around 12-16C in the mountainess regions where the paddy fields are. During the day the air is a rollercoater of temperatures and with the relative heat capacity of water being 6 times lower then air Its far to formulate that the water is constantly changing temperature. Whilst anymore then 50W I would strongly advocate for such a small area of water I do believe that 50W is the upper limit and acceptable provided the heater is of good quality and you have a thermometer to register the temperature so that you can check the thermostat against.

Oh, thats ok then  Rapid temperature changes are not good for any fish, and should not be encouraged.

The point i was making is that by the statement you made ref bettas are hardy and rapid water temp changes etc.. may give the wrong impression to people, particularly newbies, reading the thread. There's no way that temperature changes would be any where near as rapid in 100,000 gallon paddy field as there is in a 5 gallon tank. I just dont want people thinking that their bettas are tollerant of rapid water temp changes, and then wondering why their fish is sick. After all, when you start in the hobby your always told to keep the temp stable :good:

why Because I know for sure it can fit in the aquarium without bugging Pebbles. lol

I am happily that you are so enthusiastic to give your betta home when you joined it was less then ideal and now I am sure pebbles will be a happy little boy for all the effort you have made.

actually today I was at the LFS and I figured out that you guy's said that from 2G to 5G is good and I found the 2.65G there and it looked like it could fit on my bookshelf fine. so I just gotta ask if its okay to go smaller

The smallest I'd go is a 2.5 gal. The 2.65 you found is ok. I have my betta in a 3 gal (used to be in a 2.5 gal). As long as it has a gentle filter (without a lot of water movement) and a heater you'll be fine
