Algae Differences

Hello.

My tank can have two lights in it. I originally had an aqua-glo light in and had a slight problem with green algae. I have since installed a sun-glo light, and now am getting little streaks of brown algae. Is there a difference in these two types of algae? And other than just scrubbing it off, what can I do to prevent further algae problems?
