Albino Frog

As I stated in the invert/amphib section this tank is suitable for nothing but inverts and is too small for a ADF due to the lack of bottom (floorspace) to move around in.

Hellooooooooooooo... is the goldfish a problem??? Is my 7L ok?

The 7 liter is about 69 liters short of what the goldfish would need, minimum (a 76L tank.) This would be for the goldfish alone, with no other fish or frog in there.

~~waterdrop~~

Hey he is not a standard goldfish.. he is a special gold water fish :)

its much better than the the one you have at the moment but its still to small for the frog and the fish even if you get rid of one I think it would be perhaps be best if you want to keep fish and aquatic pets to return the goldfish and the frog to the store you got them from and then start to cycle the new filter in your new tank then when that is ready to keep fish perhaps get a few african dwarf frogs or maybe a couple of platies - they sometimes look pretty similar to goldfish :)

Hmmm, Iam afraid that the tank you have just bought is still way too small for a happy goldfish.

It seems dreadfully irresponsible of the manufacturers to call such a small tank a 'goldfish tank'

Even the smallest fancy varieties need a minimum of 37.5 litres, look at Wikipedia Goldfish article

Sorry.

And as the previous poster has pointed out your new tank will need to be 'cycled' before it is safe to put fish in it.
If you are unfamiliar with what that means there is loads of great info on this site. Look here - Cycling info

Hey thanks for your help... this is just the temp home for a year or so :)

After that 1) I should have more room and 2) more money

Do you know of any good heaters which would be good for a plastic tank?

aquariums of that size shouldnt be sold, its so unfair

always get the biggest aquarium u can afford

This is the biggest I can afford... and tbh I can't really offered this :(

hmmmm, are goldfish slow growers?

Noooooooo the women said that in a years time I will have to get a bigger one... so I am gonna save up..

My frog is well cute :D

Goldfish grow to the environment in which they are kept and have growth spurts all year round when kept in an indoor aquarium. They grow to 8+ inches for the fancies and 12+inches for the normal single tailed (shubukins, comets, albino and golden commons). 40l is not enough for any goldifish so that wiki article is wrong if it states that, the minimum for a goldy is 30 gallons and 15 gallons extra for every additional goldfish. They are big fish if kept in the proper environment and will live for 20+ years. Filtration should be triple the tank capacity due to their inefficient digestive system they are messy.

albino frogs can be kept with goldfish and any tank which is fit for an adult goldfish is fine for the ACF (african clawed frog)

Sorry my Tank is 7L, just looked it up!!
You can get bargain tanks on Ebay -got a 5 gallon plastic one for 99p! Larger tanks or those with filters, heaters etc normally sell for £20-35. Ebay is a good place to get cheap heaters, filters, plants, snails and cheap fishfood too.
