Albino Catfish

Hi, Like the look of these Catfish, I'm currently in a fishless cycle in my 23litre edge and was wondering about these fish, Do they grow big and can they be kept with male Guppys? Thanks

Are you talking about albino corys? If so, I understand that they are just a morph of the Bronze cory. NOt sure about the one that you are talking about, though.

i have albino cory's and they're ace! Great to watch, i have never seen anything malicious from them. I'd recommend them to anyone. They are ok with Guppies, not sure how many you could keep in a 23ltr, they are a shoaling fish.

Albino corys cannot be kept in a 23l/ I'm not sure any catfish can be...

Then they will get too big for you to have enough in your tank. These fish get to just shy of three inches long and need to be kept in groups.

A good alternative would be pygmy corys. There are a few species of smaller, dwarf cory and they look a bit like this:

They need to be kept in groups of 6+ (ideally about 10). They are lively, fun fish and very peaceful.

Hi Folks, Yes it was the Albino Corys in the picture above, I knew i was very limited on species, think it will be 5 male Guppys and some shrimp. Thanks Craig

Albino CORYS are quite peaceful and would work well with the community fish you want to get. although they need to be in groups and a tank your size would not accommodate them well.
also they are sensitive to light so if you leave on the tank light all the time you will not see them often.

much as i dont like confrontation, i disagree that they NEED to be kept in a shoal as i have had a single albino cory live a happy 3 years on his todd they might however do better in groups!

Thanks everyone for the comments and help, because my Edge is only 23 litres i dont think it would be a good idea if they can grow quite big, I need to stick to the small and very small fish, lol

Have you seen a big shoal of corys? they are always (in my experience) much happier

Yes, seen them in my Lfs store at the weekend thats what attracted me to them, they looked all so active and following each other about, pity i couldnt get a bigger tank.
