So, my air stone is positioned under the gravel near the filter. This means that some of the bubbles are getting sucked through the filter. Apart from this making a bit of a noise, is it bad for the filter to have air bubbles going through it? Like, is bad for the bacteria?

Also, what if the air stone is next to/amongst live plants? Is the air/oxygen bad for the plants?

Thanks.

It's not bad for the filter bacteria (they like a lot of oxygen!) but it is bad for the filter itself. They are designed to run wet, and air bubbles constantly going through it might wear the impeller out quicker.

Plants don't like air stones.

Thanks! I won't take it out then, since the bacteria like oxygen, I will just position it further from the filter & away from the plants!
