Air Curtain

Hi

Can anyone suggest a good air curtain/ stone that will give a constant and neat flow. I've tried a few stones (the blue ones) but you dont seem to get the whole stone to have air coming out.

Are the rubber type ones better?

Bubble discs are pretty effective,or you can buy(or Make) tubing with pre-drilled holes that when fixed inside the tank with suction cups gives you a walled effect

If the air doesnt make it to the end of the stone then you either have too long an airstone, or too weak an airpump

I'll watch this thread with interest as I would like a bubble wall when I set my 60l up. I tried one of those that is like a bendy hair roller and the bubbles were very uneven. Maybe it is a case of getting a strong pump as Adam says?

Hey EllieW, I have both the green,foam feeling wands and the ceramic wands- I think both are Topfin brand. The green wand is not as uniform as the ceramic. I have a 4" ceramic wand w/ a Topfin 10 pump and it produces a pretty nice uniform wall. Try the ceramic wands, just make sure the pump is strong enough for the length.

I have a Rena 600 air pump im guessing its quite a good one.

i had a 4" blue stone was pretty un even tbh then saw a 12" stone in pets at home and its alot more even but wouldnt say the whole 12" is used the pump was for a small tanks filter though

I have a "hagen Aircurtain". and it works very well. unlike some it comes with weights. you wont get better. and even the best "airstone" will not get close to the fine bubbles it produces.

I use the exact same one as this on fleabay 220514155457 I have a 4 port pump 2 ports go into each end! The stone has a connection on both ends! It produces a fine constant mist of bubbles. Best airstone I've used heavy enough to keep itself down!

I have an hagen air curtain which is good and produces and even mist of bubbles and a bubble disc which produces a nice stream of bubbles both are run using an air fow 2.

well, yes. but not enough to make any, real, difference to the flow. (visibly, anyway.) and, to be fair, the bubbles are only for show anyway.
