Aight- Now How Do I Clean It?

I just found an article on fishless cycling (which I should have read before asking- oops) and it said not to use something w/ surfactants in it... causes the water to foam? or something... i can't remember. it *did* say pure ammonia though.... but i wanted to make sure it was right before i bought it.

my first tank, i didn't do my research very well. and my fish are all alive- but i want to do this one the right way.

Avoid using that then. From what I have read (in the past 5 minutes), they are used in detergents, so it makes sence that they could cause the water to foam. http/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surfactant

i didn't realize finding ammonia would prove to be such a task. oh well. i'll go find some on the morrow. thanks for your help!
