I have been reading a lot of posts talking about aggressive fish behavior. As Aquarists we need to realize that we are keeping animals in an enclosed space that have a primary function in life, which is to breed. The best we can do is provide the fish with the best possible conditions and give them the most protection we can from each other. Males will naturally chase females and other males. Females will naturally flirt with males. We need to provide each member of your tank with a safe place to go and get away from the action. Whether we do this with plants, rocks or drift wood. It is important to protect your fish from each other. Remember that most diseases in aquariums are there all the time and only appear when a fish gets stressed, we need to make sure our fish don't get stressed.
