I have 3 Ageneiosus Magoi, or Orinoco Dolphin Catfish. I have been learning a lot about them, as they all have different personalities! I wish that they were more popular and there was more information on them, and I would one day love to write an online article about them!

Below, left to right, are my babies, Pomegranate (Male), Duckweed (Most Likely Female), and Buttercup (Unable to identify due to damaged dorsal fin).

They're neat fish, but I can't see them being popular because of the need for large tanks (2m, 6 foot) and their predatory nature. They're nice looking creatures though.

We've got a store overhere which sells these fish as well. I always watch them for a long time when I'm there. They're so magnificent to watch. If I had the space to put a large tank at my place, I would definitely go for these fish.

Yeah, I highly suggest them. I believe that their minimum is 50 gallons, but I'd go as far to say that a 40 would be fine. I had 2 in a 29 for a while before I got a 75. They are really predatory but don't require live fish in their diet!

They are a really underestimated family of fish! I had a couple of Ageneiosus sp. I'm not sure of their name now as the family has been spliced up a bit in recent years but they got to about 3.5 inches with a black/dark gray upper and white belly. Through the day they hovered in the top corner of the tank in the current and then at night came to life and patrolled the whole tank for hours at a pretty high speed.

The Magoi do get to a really good size but there are other relatives in this family that should definitely be more popular! The shark like appearance is pretty irresistible.
