After Treating Ich.......

Well My tank got ich.....so i treated it and my mom's co-worker who used to have a freshwater tank said that after treating it i need to replace BOTH filter cartridges and i definitely would not like that because i would have to re-cycle my tank!
so is this true? i hope not.
he says that there is ich on the cartridges now.

Well, I'm pretty sure that one of the cartridges is NEVER supposed to be replaced. And I thought that ich breeds on the substrate?

One of my tanks had ich before. Treated for it then added new carbon to rid the medication after dosage was complete. I got rid of the carbon after a couple days. No problem since.

nah you wont need to do anything to your filters at all, whatever you would have used to treat the ich would have gotten rid of it from te tank altogether [bar the fact that all fish carry it, and it only shows when they are stressed]

Yup, agree with the others. THe medication will kill the ich in the tank AND in the filter. Leave the filters be !

yeah totally agree. the med should kill all the ick in your system so u should not have to change filters. i never have.
