My gold halfmoon boy Jerico has been having a go at himself since I got him in November.
I've kept his finrot down til now but I can't fight it anymore and he's a mess.
He is so unusual and so beautiful, I can't bear to think of him dying in vain, which he ultimately will do.
I really want to carry on his gene, but is it madness to spawn a fish with finrot?
Can anyone shed any light on the possibility of him passing the rot on during wrapping please?

there are 2 forms of finrot, one is bacteria fuelled the other isnt, at an advanced stage of finrot with the bacterial fulled the bacteria is released into the water this passing on to other fish, this is the natural way that bacteria fight for survival them selves, its a long winded thing really and tbh, its never a right to spawn a fish when showing any sign of illness, resist the urge mel and you could find yourself with more problems that will be hard to solve.

I figured this much, such a shame, he's just not getting better, though saying that he is eating well, he's a happy and active boy, he's just a mess to look at.

well if the finrot has gone then by rights he could be spawned but at the same time his immune system is gunna be working so hard to combat the healing process of his fins and the prolonged nursing will take it toll on him too, i wouldnt do it though as he could also be attacked by the female because she doesnt see him as perfect, this happened with my rosetail, he was healthy but had been attacked by a female and lost a lot of his fins, gave him a 3 week break introduced to another female and because he couldnt flare to perfection the little madam decided to finish off what the previous one didnt finish, he's ok and healing great now, a really champ but i wont attempt to spawn him until he is 100% perfect again, i learnt from my mistakes
