I use rain water... But I live 10 miles away from the "wettest spot on earth" we get a whole lot of rain here!

I always use tap water I find it a waste of money to buy those fancy bottles plus it's a waste of plastic

Our apartment water quality sucks, so I just head to the store and pick up a few gallons of drinking water that has been filtered by Reverse Osmosis (sometimes it's Ozonated as well). But I only have a 6 gallon- when you get bigger tanks, that process can be a pain.
I have found that it works out really well (depending on the brand you buy)- all the levels are usually just right. I still add the water conditioner, too. It's only like $3.50 grand total Oh I also re-use the jugs.
Btw, I live in the USA in Ohio.

LOL very true, but I seem to recall it raining a good bit when I visited the UK
