So hubby has caught my fish bug and now wants to upgrade his tank to a bigger one too

There is a tank for sale near us a nice tank but seller says there is "slight water damage to 2 struts" which is an easy repair.

I know a little about the struts but wondered if anyone knew exactly what this could mean? tank is going for a bargain price so if its nothing too serious he will buy it but obviously we dont want too yet just in case.

i think anything where people say something like 'slight damage' is so open to interpretation that it would be impossible for anyone here to predict exactly what they mean. I would suggest you just arrange to view the tank before making a commitment to purchase.

IMO I'd be wary of any sort of damage as far as fish tanks and apparatus are concerned. There's so many sound tanks/stands out there that it is just not worth the risk with one you are doubtful about.

Okay well I am waiting for him to get back to me on exactly hw bad the damage is but im feeling wary of it.

Another thought with 'slight water damage' is of course it 'could' be from the careless sloshing of a bucket, but it may also be possible that one of the seams / seals on the tank has a slight leak. Not sure they would tell you if that was the case, but might be something just 'eying-over' to see if you can see any obviously missing / damaged silicon.

Ok so ive emailed him asking the problem and this is the reply I got:

Hi yes on the ends of the top inside is a strengthener with two screws holding it.It is where the tubes come up at the back on the corner of the wood.It measures aprox.12"x 3" x5/8"

Have no idea what it means but have asked him how it needs reparing maybe that will help me decide.
