added new plants from Greenline (lots of pics)

mainly because I don't know what I'm doing with it yet and want to take things one step at a time.

So I plan on monitoring the pH and CO2. If the increase in light starts causing my pH to be adversely affected or the CO2 to drop too low, then I shall cut back on the light and plan the next step (i.e. CO2 addition). My substrate is also plain gravel, so I need to think about what to do with that (probably mix something in).

Hopefully things will go well though. I've ordered a 24w PC btw.

jimbooo....wow. Your tank is amazing. I love it.

I had someone pm me to say i prune and play around too much and that I should give my tank a chance and let it grow. I'm going to give it a go. See what happens. I let it go wild for a few weeks and post a pic :S

Daza, I got one of those interpet t5 lights. got the 55 watt one. no probs so far.

thanks so much everyone.

Daza: go and get some first layer laterite from your LFS, rince it thoroughly and mix with your gravel before you do anything else. it will make a huge difference whatever you plan to do with the tank (and a massive pain to do it later on).

as to the CO2, light wont effect PH, just algae /plant growth. if your going to have 2.5WPG or more (haven't added it up) you WILL need at least a diy CO2 kit. if you wait and see what happens by just adding light you'll almost definatly have an algae problem. (unless the light is under 2 WPG)

Hondour: thanks for the comment. i'd let it spread for a month then have a major prune (but keep up weekly 25% water changes) and fertalise if needed. i left mine for about a month when i first planted and only trimmed stems/leaves rising above the surface. definatly the way to go.

Gill. i'd love to but kinda got my hands full with pruning my own. thanks for the comments and let me know if you need any help
nice sig. damn cartoon changed my life forever that did. Ha Ha

Thanks. It's going very well now - it's one big learning curve. See my Journal for the latest.
