just got a free thick lip gourami (golden variety) from work (world of water watford) because 1: he/she was the last of the batch 2: he/she came in with only one eye, and we weren't going to sell him/ her

now, i was just wondering how to sex them? and he's currently in a 48 litre river reef, with a borelli, some ember tetras, cherry shrimp and 3 small cories

would he/she be happy in there or do i need to transfer him to another tank? and could i feasibly put in a mate for him/her so they might breed?

any input is much appreciated

thanks

Hi good on you for saving a one eyed fish! I saved a blind dojo loach and he was my favorite fish for years.

I think you should move him/her into your bigger tank as the apistos will be wanting most of their tank for themselves. I imagine if you got an opposite sex to what they are they could breed but like most gourami go for 1M 2F I think you can mix the colours of the thick lips as well :good: I love the rusty orange ones, is that what you have? If I wasnt so hung up on biotopes I would consider one definitely for my tank they are gorgeous! Pics please!!!

hes like a dull gold but still nice, not going for the shrimp yet lol, both the gourami and male borelli dont seem sure of each other, no open conflict but both seem to avoid eachother lol
