RIGHT!

So I may have screwed up the first lot of cycling by cleaning out the filter in tank water, big whoops - and also been incredibly busy with school meaning I fell behind a bit with testing.

Last night I checked water at 9:30 -

Ammonia 00pm
Nitrites 00pm

So I added 2ml of ammonia (as usual)

Today 9:30am:

Ammonia 2ppm
Nitrites 0.25

PLEASE don't get annoyed by the next thread, it's just so I can discard previous tank cycle history and start afresh - nearly 3 months and still nowhere near ready for fish!!!

No matter how much you feel you've messed up, time is on your side. I know this sounds strange since the main theme of most of these threads is how long a fishless cycle is taking and how impatient the cycler feels. But if one just keeps on cycling (and barring any unusual factor) it should be inevitable that the colonies will eventually establish.

You are far from the beginning of a cycle on that filter Abih. In order to reach a double zero that quickly, you have a decent bacterial colony that you only need to grow a bit stronger.

This morning readings were 00pm. So that's 24 hours to clear. Added 2ml.

If that is down from 5 ppm to 1 ppm in only 12 hours, you have a nice robust bacterial colony that merely needs to be increased to be a fully functional biological filter.

I checked the water last night at 11pm, it was 0ppm. So will check at 11am today. I'm just dying to get fish in cos it's been forever!!!! (Since early March)!!

Getting bored of cycling now, it's been cycling since MARCH and it's still taking 14 hours to cycle a mere 2.89ml of ammonia, I've gone through a test kit already and I've no fish!

Remind me of your tank and filter size/capacity. I have a theory that I'm sure the one expericenced people will tell me is wrong lol.

54l and filter came with Aldi tank 'QD-1900/F' - Any help appreciated

Does it say on the box the max amount of litres the filter can cope with. I have this theory that the bigger your filter capability in relation to your aquarium, the quicker it cycles. I don't know why that would work though.

Have you done a water change recently?

The filter came with the tank so I presume it is right for the size? It was 0ppm last night at 7 and so I added more ammonia, this morning at 7am it tested as 2ppm, honestly sick of it now.

That's not too bad, it does seem like it's getting there jut slowly.

How many fish are you planning on getting?
