established filter madia from my other 205 on my 60l, i crammed that full with biomax so i had enough to set up this one straight away, i have ordered the eheim fliter media from MA which comes on friday so i will probobaly starte to get fish throughout next week,

How do you think i should stock? put all the fish in at once so they dont bully the new ones or takeoover the tank or half one week, half next etc?

Id put the less agressive (by reputation) in first and then add the more agressive ones after...UNless you have them all now...

so which would that be then? the labs?

Id add the labs first but then again I dont know much about Haps :|, hopefully someone will come along who knows. But I can see what it would be a problem your using mature filter media aint you?

This is how I would put them in:
Copadichromis Borleyi
Astatotilapia "CH 44" (latifasciata)
labridchromis caeruleas (white)/labridchromis caeruleas (yellow)

That's just my opinion!! :good:

Thanks, everybody's opinions would be great help :good:
I'll give my reasoning too!

The cop. b. are generally more peaceful than the others.
Astat. are labeled peaceful for Victoria Cichlids, when compared to others.
Labs are peaceful for mbuna, but they are mbuna!

well i went to maidenhead today, they didn't have any copadichromis borleyi in (except 1  ) for about 7weeks now they have had loads in, apparently everyone went mad on them, any way, i decided to opt for the 3 x pseudotropheus crabbro and 2 x Astatotilapia "CH 44"

in a few week i will get some yellow and white labs, might get a bottom feeder aswell, any suggestions?

I recape the tank slightly, can't remember if i told you or not, the crabbro are interesting, one of them has been shifting some gravel with its mouth to make a deeper hole, fun to watch, i can see these being so much more interesting than the community fish :) The crabbro are a good 4" aswell and only £5!

For the bottom feeder, synodontis mulitpunctis (or something like that). All most any syno species will work except for a few. It's been a little while since I read about them so I can't tell you for sure what ones get huge, but there are a couple that do.

*Patience is a virtue...
Please take your ps crabro back to the lfs. They have absolutley no place in a 40 gallon, honestly. They get about 7" or about 18 cm. Your tank is not big enough. I know it's hard to resist, but when your plan goes haywire b/c they don't have something when you go in, refrain from impulse buys UNLESS you've read about them prior and are confident you know what you need to :)

The guy in the shop said they would be ok and are similar (in requirements) to the borleyi? I thought they only got to 6", i'll see if i can swop them, hopefully they will be getting some more borleyi in.

How about the Ps Flavus? They had some of them in,

thanks for reply, DtHoffsett also said to take them back.

When you take them back, tell them you took the advice of the person selling you the fish only to find out later that the advice was wrong and depending on how aggressive they could get, your other fish could be in jeopardy.

Flavus is considered to be really aggressive also... prob. not a good choice sorry

Id got for Synodontis Petricola , Very beautiful catfish, defined by their white edging and reach alot smaller size then the multis etc only reaching 4-5"
