Just was wondering if it was normal that when there's a power outage the output pump doesn't work (obviously because there's no electricity) but since there's no water being pumped out of the tank, and the siphon from the intake is still going the canister fills up and starts overflowing. Is there any way to stop this besides manually stopping the siphon? Is this even normal for canister filters?

Water coming out of the canister suggests to me that it's not watertight. What kind of filter do you have?

Its quiet and works fine just if there's too much water it leaks so its probably not water tight like you mentioned...
