About two years ago, I was on here asking advice about getting a fish tank and early setup. Two years on I still love my white Fluval Edge 46litre and am very fond of my little fishies (tropical).

On a trip to M.A in the New Year for fish seeing all the tanks laid out rather made me have the idea of getting a second tank and this is something I thought I'd look into now. There is only so many fish that can 'fit' in the Edge and I'd rather like more/larger. My Edge sits nicely on a sideboard in the lounge so I might put this second tank on the kitchen worktop.

So does anyone have any advice about going for a second tank in general?

In respect of the tank itself, if I were to go with another 'desktop' I thought I'd get something different from another Edge and understand Biorb last year introduced a new tank called Halo which I wondered if anyone had any experience of and could comment on?

I have considered getting something bigger to accommodate really much larger fish but understand that they don't have the same kind of system like the Edge where it comes with the filter and lights as part of it and then it's all much more complicated. For example, I like the idea of keeping tang fish but appreciate it will be quite different from looking after my current tank.

A bit vague I know my post, but can anyone guide/comment?

Thanks

No experience with the 'desktop' tanks, but the rule of thumb is get the largest tank you can afford and have room for.

I think it's too late Iwantsomefish is hooked on fish, soon she will be getting a 3rd tank.

ahh MTS ... we've all been there

and then one day you wake up and realise your entire life is taken up by fish and fish tanks ... water changes, cleaning, maintaining, more cleaning, more water changes ...

and then the electric bill drops on the mat one day and you go

and realise this hobby is addictive and you need help for MTS (Multi Tank Syndrome).

In all seriousness though - if you want another tank and can afford the electric bills and have the time for extra tank maintenance then why not! If your wanting a tank that comes with everything it needs have a look at the Juwel range. They come in various shapes and sizes and always have their filters, heaters and lights included with them. They are also excellent quality tanks. I wouldn't buy any other brand now :)

Juwel....I wish they would sell to the USA. Would love to get my greedy paws on a Rio 240 setup...but, yeah, I agree with these posts. Go for a new tank - as big as you can fit in the available space. Then try to hold the line and not do a third!

Haha.yeah I have not long received my 4th tank.it's definitely becoming a problem.but a good problem.

Only four? One became two, then due to emergency it became four. Along came a freebie. As well as a broken tank.(Saving the glass for a future project.) And am now looking for at least one more, but probably three. Seriously though, one is my main tank. I am looking for another four footer to combine two of my smaller tanks. One is a quarantine/hospital tank(now empty). One is a project tank, I am getting set up for our showroom at work. If I find a good price on a three footer I wouldn't pass it up. As well need another small tank for making an L-shaped or corner tank.(just for kicks and giggles).
