I want to set up a second filter (external) can I just pop a whole new filter onto my current set up? It doesn't need to be cycled or anything does it?

I am thinking this one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fluval-A206-205-External-Filter/dp/B000HHJI90/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1325889304&sr=8-2

Well if your running both filters at the same time then no you dont have to cycle it, and also I would recommend a tetratec external, very good they are!

For another tenner you can get a brand new EX1200 from TetraTEC. Alternatively, you could look at the EX700.

So tell me why is the TetraTEC better then Fluval? I am curious... I currently have an internal Fluval 4. :good:

Minstrel, Fluvals older internals were actually very good.

Their externals, hmmm... I'm gonna get a right bashing here! :D

Anyway, i can take it for the sake of the team...

Fluvals aren't as well made as TT's

Fluvals don't come with as much media as TT's

Fluvals can be noisy with age. I had a 205 and it was very noisy after a year. I also have a 305 and it too is noisy.

Fluvals customer service and care staff are pants from experience, TT's can't do enough for you. They speak very good English considering they are based in Germany and are very polite indeed.

On the upside for them though, their externals fit better inside alot of aquarium cabinets as they are oblong shaped.

Why don't they sell these in the us!!!!! That ticks me off. I don't wanna pay the shipping from Europe.

I have a fluval Roma 200 with the cabinet would it fit in the cabinet. OH loves the fish but they are my allowed inside pet because they aren't noisy or smelly  So if it would fit I am up for the less noisy more efficient filter?!?

man of Fish. Someone once did mention that they looked like a make in the US, so maybe they run under a different name over there or maybe they were just a copy? Do you have Tetra products?

Minstrel, the 1200 will fit perfectly inside your 200 cabinet. I have the Vicenza 180 and it fits perfectly. :)
