Evening all, hope this thread finds you all well.

A family friend is in dire need of a media donation, of which I am only too pleased to contribute, but it needs going in his filter sharpish.
As I am completely unavailable to open up my Fluval external tomorrow or the next couple of days, i have...
Put ceramic and sponge media in a plastic bottle.
Attached a small air pump and tube for maximum aeration.
Continue to replenish with warm, dechlorinted water up until tomorrow early am.

Now, going on the basis that it MAY take 10 hours to lose half of the bacteria colony, would the media still have a sufficient number tomorrow evening...maybe 12 hours after the final change of fresh water?
There is a chance of doing it properly next weekend, but do you think this way might work?
Regards,

Terry.

It should work. If you could add a form of ammonia to feed it then that would be better. Maybe a flake of food?
