Hello everyone I hope you are all well ? :good:

In my new tank and first ever I have sand in the base now I cleaned it good in a bucket before putting it in my Tank just wondering how you peeps clean the surface off the bits and peace's that build up the large stuff is easy as I just pick it up ?

currently I am doing a fine dreg with a net from time to time anyone got a better way ? or am I on the Write track ?

regards Ian :)

AS above i also use the gravel vac, sn just hold it slightly above the surface, you always suck a bit of sand up, but its not the end of the world!

Do you rake it up weekly??, the man in the fish tank (but never know if they are telling me the truth) told me that the bottom 2/3 s compact and to just hoover the top every week and then to go through all of it every 2 months, is this right??

Thanks

Elaine, Blue Bubble

not weekly, daily, but my corys do that for me, but if you dont have cories or loaches, use a algae scraper(with a long stick) just to stir it up, or a fork or something similar
