I kid. I've probably hijacked dozens myself.
 
Rivulus species have been known to cross land areas to find water and are sometimes found under damp leaf litter so it is not suprising that they can be found in damp tree crevices.
Helter is absolutely correct in stating that Rivulus marmoratus is a self-fertilizing hermaphrodite.
Nature has so many diverse mechanisms built into various species to ensure their survival.
Got a marmoratus myself, one of the old killi hands gave me a girly about a year ago, and she loves to sit ontop of the filter out of the water, dips in now and again to get wet but she is just like one of the betta's and loves the filter.
